Despite the disappointment last night and just falling short of a victory, the Milwaukee Brewers stood on business during Sunday’s matinee game against the Seattle Mariners, taking the series and winning 12-4.
A Milwaukee Brewers Firework Show
It was a fun game to watch as it was the best offensive production by the Brewers on Sunday; All players reached base, and drove in nine RBI’s as they kept Bernie Brewer busy sliding down his slide with all the homeruns that were hit.
Jake Bauers got the run scoring going in the bottom of the first with an RBI single after Seattle’s right fielder Luke Raley dropped a diving catch out in shallow right field, allowing Oliver Dunn to score to get Milwaukee on the board.
Sal Frelick then on a 2-2 count with two outs slaps a hit out to deep left, driving in William Contreras and Bauers to bring the Brewers to 3-1.
William Contreras Stuffs the Stat Sheet
Just a day after being presented with his 2023 Silver Slugger Award, Contreras stepped to the plate showing everyone why he won that award in the first place.
He singled and was apart of the three-run first inning, then made a statement by smashing a two-run blast into deep left center, then hit a long RBI single in what would become a four-run fourth inning, and ended his day in the eighth inning with another two-run blast off of Josh Rojas, a position player that took the mound for Seattle.

Oliver Dunn hit a triple out to right field to kick off the rally in the bottom of the fourth, and Willy Adames followed up with his second home-run of the series, bringing Milwaukee to an 8-2 lead. The Brewers would end their day with 14 hits as a team.
Better Pitching Outing for Milwaukee
The Brewers’ started Colin Rea (2-0) earned himself a win with tremendous run support as he allowed just two runs (one earned) on seven hits in six innings. Rea struck out three and didn’t walk a single batter.
Thyago Vieira would come out of the bullpen for the crew and work three innings, allowing one hit, and two earned runs including a home-run by outfielder Dominic Canzone in the ninth inning.
Both pitchers putting out a much better performance for Milwaukee compared to Saturday night where the pitching staff allowed five runs including two home runs by Jorge Polanco and former Brewer Luis Urias.
As for Seattle, starter Emerson Hancock (1-1) allowed eight runs on 11 hits with six strikeouts in three innings of work. Reliever Collin Snider would take a hit off his foot by Sal Frelick in the fourth, and eventually was replaced by Tayler Saucedo when Snider threw a warm-up pitch and didn’t feel comfortable continuing.
Injury Updates
Wade Miley made a rehab appearance on Friday with the Nashville Sounds and could rejoin the Brewers’ rotation for their next road trip to Cincinnati and Baltimore, according to manager Pat Murphy.
The Brewers head on the road for a four-game series against the Cincinnati Reds starting on Monday. LHP Aaron Ashby, who missed the 2023 season due to shoulder surgery, will make his anticipated season debut for the crew, while RHP Graham Ashcraft will be on the mound for the Reds. The Reds are 5-4 on the season after losing to the New York Mets 3-1 on Sunday.
