Kevin Garnett Makes a Bold Prediction About Anthony Davis

NBA Champion and 15X All-Star Kevin Garnett knows a special player when he sees one. A member of the NBA’s Top 75 list, Garnett has been a great ambassador for the game since he retired in 2016. Karl Anthony-Towns admitted that Garnett helped mentor him during his rookie season.

Not only that, but Garnett shares a special bond with players who played his position, particularly Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis, who he issued a big challenge to on Ticket and The Truth Podcast on Showtime.

This isn’t that bold of a take from Garnett. Anthony Davis, when healthy, is a top-10 player in the NBA, but that’s the moniker people keep using “when healthy.” Davis hasn’t shown the ability to stay healthy during his time in Los Angeles.

Last season, Davis averaged 25.9 points, a career-high 12.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 56 games for LA. This offseason, Davis was rewarded with a 3-year $186 million extension.

Kevin Garnett is expecting what we’re all expecting, which is when is Anthony Davis finally going to say, “this is my team” and help LeBron James in the twilight of his career?

Outside of the bubble, Davis has had good moments in LA, but he hasn’t lived up to expectations, and the window to give LeBron another championship is closing.

Davis has accomplished a lot in heading into his 11th season in the NBA. The only thing missing from his career is an MVP. Can he stay healthy for 65 games to meet the criteria for an MVP? Outside of the 2019-2020 NBA shortened season, Davis has not played 60 games in a Lakers uniform.

Kevin Garnett has set his expectations for what he expects of Anthony Davis. Can the Laker star become the ninth player in team history to win an MVP and the first since Kobe Bryant in the 2007-08 season? That question and more will be answered in the next two seasons.
