Green Bay Packers fans gave defensive coordinator Joe Barry some love on social media following the team’s win in the Wild Card round over the Dallas Cowboys Sunday afternoon. Barry’s defense crushed Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott on the way to a 48-32 win.
The final score doesn’t tell the true story of the Packer’s defense against the Cowboys. The Cowboys scored 16 points in garbage time in the fourth quarter after head coach Matt LaFleur pulled starters to keep his team as healthy as possible before playing the NFC’s first seed, the San Francisco 49ers, next weekend.
The question of how the Packers would stop the connection between wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and Prescott was a major talking point this week. That connection struggled as the Packers built an early lead in the first half. Darnell Savage’s pick-six put the Packers up 27-0 late in the second quarter.
The Packers’ defensive pressure affected Prescott, who was sacked four times Sunday. Prescott finished with two interceptions on the day.
Green Bay Packers fans show Barry some love on social media
Fans have been critical of Barry all season. Many wanted him fired after the loss to the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. However, some in Packers media and fanbase think he’s done enough to keep his job following the previous three games.
Here are the best takes on social media of fans giving Barry some love.
Rams might wish they had kept Joe Barry.
