The Green Bay Packers are going into 2023 with promise as a new era begins. While the team has spent the offseason trying to fill out their roster. One position that still remains a huge question is safety. While it seems unlikely that the team will have the cap space to make significant changes now, one way too early 2024 mock draft has the Green Bay Packers investing in the position.
Green Bay Packers Way Too Early 2024 Mock Draft
This mock draft has the Packers drafting number 17 overall. With that pick, they take Andrew Mukuba, a safety out of Clemson. He has had two strong seasons with the Tigers and is already projected to go in the first round. According to NFL Draft Buzz, he picks up crossing routes well and uses his speed effectively. He has high athleticism which makes him a perfect profile for Brian Gutekunst. He shows flashes of greatness in run defense as well something the Packers desperately need.
Picking At 17
The more interesting thing about this mock draft is where the Packers are placed. Many outlets have had the Packers picking in the top 10. While this is definitely a possibility, the strength of schedule is kind to the Packers this season. This means that the team could play mediocre overall and still have a decent record. This mock draft has the team finishing with a decent record and more importantly, way ahead of the Chicago Bears.
The Green Bay Packers have entered a new phase. Whether you want to call it a retool or a rebuild, the face of the matter is this roster needs to get younger. Look for the Packers to invest in defense again in 2024.
