The Green Bay Packers shook the NFL world today. According to an article written by Stephen Holder of ESPN, the Packers were one of the teams actively trying to trade for Jonathan Taylor. The news had fans going wild on social media. Many fans thought that the trade would make absolutely zero sense, others said the trade would make perfect sense in a post-Aaron Jones world. As it turns out, the idea of the Packers trading for Taylor is not done and over with.
Green Bay Packers Are “Still In” On Massive Jonathan Taylor Trade

There was a particular note in Stephen Holder’s ESPN article regarding the Packers and Jonathan Taylor
Indianapolis moved forward after its self-imposed deadline of Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET came and went without receiving what the team deemed an acceptable offer for Taylor, who requested a trade last month and was authorized by the Colts last week to seek out a trade partner.
But the Packers emerging as a contender remains relevant because Taylor can still be traded, even though he is on the reserve/physically unable to perform list and therefore must miss at least the first four games of the regular season.
A source told ESPN that there is still trade interest in Taylor and the All-Pro would still welcome a trade. The NFL’s trade deadline is Oct. 31.
What Would A Trade Have To Look Like For The Packers To Land Taylor?

Although it’s unclear precisely what the Packers were offering to trade Taylor for, a report from All Dolphins implied that the Dolphins were definitely involved in a serious way. The Miami Herald reports that Indianapolis had an asking price that included star wideout Jaylen Waddle, among other assets. Miami discussed a variety of deals, including players and draft picks, but details of what they offered remain unclear.
What this tells us, is the Packers will have to offer a pretty massive trade package to lure Taylor away from the Colts. This is what we believe the Packers may have to offer:
Green Bay Packers Receive:
- Running Back Jonathan Taylor
Indianapolis Colts Receive:
- Running Back Aaron Jones
- 2024 Conditional Second Round Draft Pick
- 2024 Third Round Draft Pick
- 2024 Sixth Round Draft Pick
This type of trade would give the Colts a star running back in return that would likely command a lesser contract along with serious draft capital. The Packers would get a 24-year-old running back that could help build the foundation of the young offense for years to come.
