The Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers are in the midst of interesting 2023 seasons. The 49ers appear to be an early favorite to come out of the NFC and make a Super Bowl appearance. The Packers are excited about what they have in Jordan Love and hope he continues to show he can be the next franchise quarterback.
As it turns out, one former Packers player will be helping the 49ers this season.
Former Green Bay Packers Defensive Back Shemar Jean-Charles Get Activated To The San Francisco 49ers Active Roster
Per the San Francisco 49ers:
The San Francisco 49ers announced they have promoted CB Tre Swilling to the active roster from the team’s practice squad. In order to make room on the roster, the team released CB Anthony Brown.
In addition, the following players have been activated from the team’s practice squad (standard elevations):
Going into the offseason, and even more so after the 2023 NFL Draft, cornerback was a position of strength for the Packers. For this reason, 2021 fifth round draft pick Shemar Jean Charles was been released, per Tom Silverstein:
A bit of a surprise here: Packers have released CB Shemar Jean-Charles, according to a source. Excellent special teams player who was competing for a slot position. Team played rookie Carrington Valentine in the slot late in camp to see if he could do it.
Jean Charles ended his Packers tenure having played in 20 of a possible 33 games. He saw most of his playing time on special teams when healthy, having played just three defensive snaps total in 2022.
