The Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers are still the subjects of debate and discussion even though the future Hall of Famer was traded by the organization leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft. Since the trade happened, there have been back-and-forth jabs at each other taken in the media, the most recent of which was Rodgers saying that he only talks to people that he likes (indicating that he did not like Brian Gutekunst). There was also a revelation that Rodgers tried to have Gutekunst fired after the 2020 season.
While Rodgers is undoubtedly a Packers legend and arguably the greatest player ever in the history of the franchise, his comments about the organization rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. One of those people is Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe, whose brother Sterling spent seven incredible seasons in Green Bay. He spent a few minutes on his show Undisputed going off on Rodgers and his self-centered attitude.
Shannon Sharpe Goes Off on Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers

On the show, Sharpe was asked what he thought of Rodgers’ comments. Sharpe responded:
“This is the Aaron Rodgers we know. He speaks a lot of ‘I.’ ‘I won the MVP.’ Skip, what about understanding where you are, where they are in the building? You got no Davante [Adams]. You got a young Christian [Watson] now, who through Week Nine had zero touchdowns. His biggest game was 34 yards. Was that chemistry, that continuity built?
“From Week 10 on he had seven touchdowns, three games with over 100 yards. That’s what you got to do Skip! You got to look around and say, ‘Man, we don’t got no Davante. They went out and drafted these young wide receivers, I got to go out there and build a rapport with them and get them up to date.’
“That’s what I would be thinking. But he’s thinking, ‘Well hey, I won MVP. I won this, and didn’t have no offseason mini camp.’ You hear how he speak? I never heard Tom Brady ever mention that he won a MVP. I have NEVER heard ANY of the other great quarterbacks mention that they won something when someone said ‘Well why did you do this or why did you do that?'”
He then read Rodgers’ quote about not having any bars in his house and saying that if anyone wants to talk to him when he is home, they need to FaceTime him. Then Sharpe went off:
“Man, I ain’t going to FaceTime no grown-a** man! Grown men don’t FaceTime with grown men! Man, if my homeboy call me FaceTime, I’m telling him to hang up and call me regular. And then [Rodgers] says, ‘Just admit it: you wanted to move on and you were upset that I didn’t talk to you all the time. I only talk to people that I like.’
“So which is it? Did you not talk to them because you didn’t have reception or because you didn’t like them, Aaron?”
Sharpe is exactly right. For months, maybe even years, Rodgers has been talking out of both sides of his mouth when it comes to the organization. Again, he is one of the best to ever put on the Packers uniform; but it was time to move on. He got to the point where he viewed himself as above the team, and that is not the kind of person you want leading your young players, no matter how talented he might be.

Uum? If you don’t have bars (or very few), then you certainly don’t have enough bandwidth to facetime. Is Aaron such a moron not to know that this comment exposes his lie?
He was at home. You can FaceTime over wifi… obviously
Rodgers is a drama queen. We will see.
To me, it’dms just Shannon Sharpe doing what he always does. I haven’t heard that Sterling Sharpe has criticized Rodgers. The sports media has gone the route of reality tv & soap operas. And it hasn’t added anything but drama. The media is still eager to punish Rodgers because he is different.
I do not know a single Packer fan that thinks he is the greatest player in franchise history. I would argue he isn’t even their greatest QB in history.
Scumbag overrated QB that has had his butt kissed for years by commentators and he’s accomplished what exactly? One Super Bowl, hell Eli Manning has 2, so good riddance to the selfish me me me cry baby, lets see how you act when you suck in NY and the media destroys your soft little shell. Harsh reality is that Aaron Rodgers sucks and was exposed when his star receivers he inherited when Favre left all either retired or went elsewhere, J Nelson, D Driver, G Jennings, J Finley, J Jones, D Adams. He’s yesterdays garbage and his stench will soon be exposed in that division. Last year you lost at home to Jarred “Freakin” Goff and the year before at home again to Jimmy “Pretty Boy” Garopollo, your garbage my friend, keep the Packers name out of your mouth.
I like Aaron Rodgers, he was a great quarterback for The Packers, but Sharpe was right. Rodgers spent an awful lot of time on Pat Mcafee the last two years using the word I and Me. Granted the rookie receivers we not good initially, but a leader helps to elevate them. Brady would have never pointed fingers at his new guys. Rodgers held out two of his last three years. If he thinks that his antics at the end of the season last year, made him the better man — why hasn’t State Farm and others been knocking on his door for endorsements? ‘Because his appeal is waning, from his “issues”.
yup! Time for Rodgers to move on, but please get rid of Brian Gutekunst. He has done absolutely nothing good for the Packers.
