The Green Bay Packers did not have wide receiver Romeo Doubs in the 24-19 win on Sunday on the road against the Los Angeles Rams. Doubs was suspended for one game by the team.
In his absence, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Bo Melton, and Malik Heath were the wide receivers. Christian Watson was also out due to an ankle injury. Tight end Tucker Kraft had a breakout game with Romeo Doubs out.
Green Bay Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur Expects Wide Receiver Romeo Doubs To Be Back at Practice On Wednesday
The Packers do not practice on Tuesday and head coach Matt LaFleur met with the media on Monday afternoon. He mentioned to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic that Doubs is expected to be back at practice on Wednesday. LaFleur and Doubs both had a conversation with each other. Matt LaFleur also said to Schneidman:
“What’s done is done and we’re moving forward. t’s a pretty isolated incident. This has not happened with him before and I don’t expect it to happen moving forward.”
It will be interesting to see what kind of role he will have with the team moving forward. Hopefully, he accepts that Jayden Reed is the top Packers receiving option moving forward.
Stats
This season, Doubs has caught 12 passes for 169 yards receiving and zero touchdowns, averaging 14.1 yards per reception. He also has been targeted 20 times.
Doubs has yet to reach the end zone this season and hopefully, he can reach it at some point. The Packers will face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6 and hopefully, Doubs can play a big role in this offense like he did a season ago. It will also be worth watching to see him back on the practice field on Wednesday also.
