Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft is battling an injury in Week 1. The second-year offensive player dealt with a pec injury this offseason.
Kraft is the second tight end listed on the Packers’ depth chart. He missed all of OTAs and the beginning of training camp as he recovered from the pec injury.
Tucker Kraft felt strong in his body earlier in the week
In an interview this week, Kraft said he was excited to be healthy enough to play the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday night. He said he wanted to dominate the season.
“The hoops and hurdles I had to jump over to be ready to play in this game,” Kraft said, per a video posted by @Packers_Access. “Back in May, tearing my pec, rebuilding it, getting back to this point, feeling as confident as I have ever been in my body, especially in the run game. Feeling really strong, feel really in tune with the offense.”
The Green Bay Packers added Kraft to the injury report
Kraft is dealing with a new injury this week. He was not listed as injured on Tuesday’s Packers’ injury report. However, the Packers listed Kraft as having a back injury on Wednesday’s injury report.
The Packers did not practice on Wednesday, as they are traveling to Brazil. The Packers projected Kraft as a limited participant for Wednesday.
The projection appears to be good news for Kraft’s availability against the Eagles on Friday night. However, given the nature of the injury being a back issue, that could be subject to change in the next two days.
Last year, cornerback Jaire Alexander dealt with back issues during the season that would keep him out of games. A back injury could limit Kraft’s abilities to be an effective run blocker.
