The Green Bay Packers have multiple players from their 2023-24 campaign scheduled to be free agents. After a successful season, in which they fell short only 3 points from the NFC Championship Game (as the youngest team in NFL history), there is good reason to bring back the young talent.
Green Bay Packers Look To Re-Sign Keisean Nixon And More
The Green Bay Packers have been on the wrong end of special team disasters often the past handful of years. WIth special teams coordinator and assistant head coach Rich Bisaccia the Packers have found relief from the struggles. This is largely in part of the talent they accrued, like all-pro return man Keisean Nixon and linebacker Eric Wilson, there is no surprise that they are interested in their return (per Tom Silverstein)
Keisean Nixon is a 26-year-old 5’10 200 200-pound slot cornerback and decorated return man. In the past two seasons tenured for the Green Bay Packers Nixon racked up 93 total tackles, two interceptions, and eight pass deflections. As a returner, he touted nearly 1,800 yards and one touchdown through kickoffs and another 235 yards through punts, earning him back-to-back All-Pro honors. Important to note he never missed a game for the Green Bay Packers.
Eric Wilson played the role of a supplemental linebacker and core special teams member for the Green Bay Packers, The 29-year-old special teamer played over 500 snaps over the last 30 games for the Packers, leading the team in special teams tackles over that span.
Tyler Davis played a big role in the 2022 special teams game plan before having a season-ending torn ACL in the preseason of 2023.
Given the impact of these players, it is easy to see the Green Bay Packers inviting them to return, Not only in their special teams roles but as depth for the future. The Green Bay Packers will look to improve their starter quality in cornerback and linebacker, but the special teams core needs addressing as well.
