The Green Bay Packers sign a linebacker
The Green Bay Packers have re-signed an inside linebacker for the 2023 season. The Packers are signing free agents on a budget this offseason. As of Friday morning, the Packers had only spent $7.53 million in free agency as the team is dealing with cap space issues. The Packers were able to come to terms with a free agent that brings value to the special teams.
According to a statement by the Packers, the team is re-signing linebacker Eric Wilson. Wilson has made an impact on special teams, per the statement:
“[Wilson] went on to play in 13 games for the Packers and tied for the team lead with 13 special teams tackles. Wilson also recorded four tackles (two solo), a tackle for a loss and a sack on defense last season for Green Bay.”
Wilson is an undrafted free agent initially signed by the Minnesota Vikings in 2017. He was signed by the Packers off the New Orleans Saints practice squad during the 2022 season. Wilson blocked a punt against the New York Jets in Week 6. His presence will help special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia next season.
