The Green Bay Packers are preparing to face the Minnesota Vikings (3-4) on Sunday, and Rasul Douglas has been one of the better players on the Packers defense. He is 28 years old and will have another year remaining on his contract after this season.
The Dallas Cowboys need some help in the secondary. Dallas’s secondary has not been the same since Trevon Diggs suffered a season-ending injury several weeks ago. Dallas Robinson of Pro Football Network thinks that the Dallas Cowboys should trade for Rasul Douglas from the Green Bay Packers for a fifth-round draft pick in 2024.
Robinson said about Douglas potentially being a fit with the Cowboys:
“The Cowboys acquired CB Noah Igbinoghene from the Dolphins, but that trade was more about depth than anything. Igbinoghene is a former first-round pick, but he was never a realistic option to replace Trevon Diggs. Instead, Dallas has shifted slot corner DaRon Bland to the outside to play alongside Stephon Gilmore. He’s been excellent, but Jourdan Lewis has struggled inside. Would the Cowboys consider adding another outside CB and moving Bland back to the nickel? Rasul Douglas has spent time inside and outside during his NFL career, so he’d give Dallas options. He’s also under contract through 2024, so he could stick on the Cowboys’ roster and take over for Gilmore, who is scheduled to reach free agency next spring.”
This would be a great move for the Dallas Cowboys, who are currently 4-2 on the year. They are preparing to face the Los Angeles Rams (3-4) on Sunday.
The Green Bay Packers Trading Rasul Douglas to the Dallas Cowboys For a Fifth-Round Pick Would Receive Massive Backlash from the fanbase
Green Bay is currently 2-4 on the year, and the fan base has criticized general manager Brian Gutekunst quite a bit. If they traded away Douglas for a fifth-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft to the Dallas Cowboys, fans are going to call for his firing immediately.
On the side of Dallas, this would be an excellent trade for them. They are in win-now mode, and they want to improve that defense on the backend. Having an elite secondary will help Micah Parsons in the pass rush department.
Rasul Douglas this season has 27 total tackles, one fumble recovery, one interception, and six pass deflections. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones likes the way his roster is. However, adding Douglas to the Cowboys roster via trade would add insult to injury on the Packers’ 2023 season.
