The Green Bay Packers, for the first time in many years, are an incredibly young team. As such, it is difficult to say if many players are overrated or underrated just yet. That being said, there are some veterans who oftentimes fly under the radar, perhaps not among Packers fans, but among football fans in general. Let’s face it, Packers fans love their team, which makes it hard for any individual’s achievements to go unappreciated among Green Bay fan groups and social media circles. Many publications dedicated to Packers coverage, including Wisconsin Sports Heroics, are dedicated to covering as many players as possible.
To be honest, sometimes we spend so much time focusing on the Packers and how they are viewed by their own fans that we forget how they might be viewed by those outside of the fanbase. This is why I, for one, was surprised to learn the PFF named Rasul Douglas as the team’s most underrated player.

Is Green Bay Packers Cornerback Rasul Douglas Underrated?
PFF published the article linked above, listing the most underrated player on each NFL team. Of Douglas, they wrote:
“Jaire Alexander grabs all the headlines, but Douglas was rock solid on the other side of the field in 2022. Douglas ranked 24th among CBs in overall grade and was one of just 11 cornerbacks who played at least 600 defensive snaps while maintaining both coverage and run defense grades north of 70.0.
“Douglas ranked 19th among corners with a 13.2 forced incompletion percentage and the 80.8 passer rating opposing QBs had while targeting Douglas in coverage was tied for the 18th lowest among CBs.”
Now, Packers fans are well-aware of the impact Douglas has on the field. Ever since Green Bay plucked him off the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad in 2021, he has become a fan favorite and leads the team in interceptions. Since joining the Packers, Douglas has intercepted nine passes and returned two for touchdowns. Additionally, he has forced two fumbles and recorded a sack.
In short, Douglas’ impact on the passing defense, which was really the only bright spot on that side of the ball last season, is not lost on Packers fans. It is nice to see him getting some love from the national media because he certainly deserves it.
