There were many questions entering this season as to whether or not Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is a franchise quarterback for the long term. He was off to a very good start in the first three weeks of the 2023 NFL regular season and then hit a massive rough patch.
Over the last three weeks, Green Bay has gone on a three-game winning streak because of how well Jordan Love has played. He has thrown for 857 total yards and eight touchdowns during the three-game winning streak and hasn’t thrown an interception.
On Monday, CBS Sports Danny Kannell spoke about Jordan Love and he said:
“I thought we saw a franchise quarterback blossoming in front of our eyes with Jordan Love.”
He has shown much promise as a franchise quarterback over the last several weeks. There are still five games to go this season and Green Bay is currently the seventh seed in the NFC. They have one of the easiest schedules in the NFL and what also helps them out is the head coach Matt LaFleur has a 16-0 record in the month of December throughout his coaching career.
It Appears As if Jordan Love Can Be the Next Franchise Quarterback for the Green Bay Packers
It was going to be hard for Love to fill in the shoes of Aaron Rodgers after sitting behind him for the last three seasons. Brett Favre and Bart Starr are the other iconic franchise quarterbacks. It is very possible that they have hit a home run with him.
Aaron Rodgers went onto the Pat McAfee show on Tuesday and shared his feelings about Love playing well this season. Rodgers said about Love’s success this season:
“Am I surprised by the way Jordan has played? No. Am I happy for him? Hell yeah. Some people probably thought I was rooting against the #Packers this year or rooting against Jordan. Couldn’t be further from the truth.”
There has been mutual respect between the two players. He is also going to be due a contract extension at the end of the season and it will be interesting to see how much general manager Brian Gutekunst decides to pay him. As long as Green Bay and Love don’t falter down the stretch, they are set with him as the franchise’s quarterback for years to come.
