Green Bay Packers OL received a fine
Last Sunday’s game in London is one most Green Bay Packers team members, and fans will want to forget. The Packers blew a two-score lead as they lost to the New York Giants in Week 5. The Packers were criticized on both sides of the ball for not running enough and how the defense decided to play coverage. One Packers offensive lineman’s pay stub will also be a little lighter than he expected from the trip.
According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, Packers guard Jon Runyan jr. was fined for unnecessary roughness during the game. His father, Jon Runyan, sent the fine letter to his son. The Michigan product wasn’t flagged by the refs during the game. However, he received a $5,215 fine for his actions against the Giants.
#Packers G Jon Runyan was fined $5,215 for unnecessary roughness in last week’s loss to the #Giants. No flag was thrown, but Runyan still got a fine letter … from his dad, NFL VP Jon Runyan, who handles on-field discipline for the league.

No nepotism is shown here
Earlier in the season, complaints of nepotism were given from Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans before the Packers Buccaneers Week 3 game. Jon Sr. suspended Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans, for the game. Evans was involved in a fight between himself and members of the New Orleans Saints. The appeal, which excluded Jon Sr., was upheld by the NFL.
Here, we see Jon Sr. continuing his job by sending a fine to Jon Jr. for an action he shouldn’t have taken against the Giants. It was a mistake Jon Jr. isn’t prone to making. According to Pro Football Focus, Jon Jr. has no penalties so far on the season. Losing $5,215 is significant enough that he’ll think twice before committing that infraction again.
