The Green Bay Packers are now in a new era with quarterback, Jordan Love. Former Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets after spending 18 seasons with the Packers. Recently, Green Bay Packers head coach Matt Lafleur commented about the team’s pride after the trade was made before this 2023 NFL season.
Green Bay Packers Head Coach Matt Lafleur Comments About Team Pride After Rodgers Trade
Matt Lafleur was asked about how the team may have reacted to the Aaron Rodgers trade back in the offseason. The Green Bay Packers head coach does not think that it had a huge impact on the team overall, stating:
“I mean, you’re talking about some of the better players at their respective positions in the league, so I’m sure these guys have a lot of confidence,” he said. “As far as it affects them? I’ll be honest with you, I don’t know. I think they’re prideful dudes, and they just love to compete, and it really doesn’t matter. They’re just trying to put their best out there each and every day and let it show through on Sundays.”
The Packers played their season opener against the Chicago Bears. Getting an impressive 38-20 win on the road with their new starting quarterback, Jordan Love.
Jordan Love Stats vs. Chicago Bears
Jordan Love went 15-27 for 245 yards, and three passing touchdowns in Chicago. He did not throw any interceptions but made some incredible plays against the Bears’ defense. Second-year wide receiver Romeo Doubs scored two touchdowns to help lead the Green Bay Packers to victory.
Along with running back Aaron Jones, who stole the show in the second half before exiting with a pulled hamstring injury.
Former Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers played 18 seasons with the Packers organization. In that time, he threw for almost 60,000 yards, 475 touchdown passes, and 105 interceptions, all with the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers started in his first game with the New York Jets on Monday night. Unfortunately, his play was cut short after suffering a torn ACL injury early in the first quarter. He only took four snaps before going down with the season-ending injury.
As of now, it is unknown whether he will come back for another season. But, still being under his current contract guarantees him money, and if he feels like he can return, then the former Green Bay Packers quarterback just may play an official first season in 2024 with the New York Jets.
With the first week in the books for the Packers, head coach Matt Lafleur could be right about his team as competitors, and wanting to be at their best every week. If Week 1 was any indication for Green Bay, fans all hope that they will continue the same level of play as the season goes on, despite who is at quarterback for the Packers.
