The Green Bay Packers suffered another heartbreaking loss on Monday night, this time falling to the New York Giants at the MetLife Stadium, 24-22. Despite their rather lackluster effort on the evening, the Packers still had a shot at escaping with a victory in this one.
Except that they didn’t.
Matt LaFleur Reacts to Green Bay Packers’ Loss Vs. Giants
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur spoke to reporters after the game and unsurprisingly, he wasn’t in a jovial mood at all. He did not hold back in criticizing his team’s effort in what turned out to be yet another close loss:
“You can look and nitpick each phase of the game,” LaFleur said, via Mike Spofford of the team website. “Special teams wasn’t good enough. Offense wasn’t good enough. Defense wasn’t good enough. All three collectively, and when you’re bad in all three phases, that’s what happens. You lose the game.”
LaFleur pretty much hit the nail on the head here. Simply put, the Packers just weren’t good enough on the evening. The Giants weren’t great either, but at the end of the day, they did enough to scrape out the win.
Green Bay will need to be much better than this if they want to fight for a spot in the playoffs. Their next game will be a home contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. It goes without saying that every game from here on out will be crucial.
