The Green Bay Packers have a great foundation for what should be an exciting team for years to come. During the last two seasons, they went through a drastic roster rebuild that saw them move on from future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love. They also bid adieu to David Bakhtiari, Randall Cobb, Mason Crosby, and many other veterans while replacing them with rookies and/or second-year players.
Astoundingly, Green Bay made the NFL Playoffs in each year. While finishing 11-6 in 2024 was certainly positive, there are some things that need to change and be fixed. Making the postseason is no longer good enough for the organization, nor has it been enough for the Packers fanbase.
Perhaps unfortunately, some of these changes will see the team parting ways with other notable players.
The Green Bay Packers Will Have to Address the Cornerback Position in 2025
It is widely expected that the Packers will choose to move on from two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander this offseason. Not only has Alexander suffered season-shortening injuries in three of the last four seasons, but the team can save millions of dollars on their salary cap both in 2025 and 2026 by releasing him this spring.
Additionally, the star cornerback also seemed to indicate to the media that he was not sure he would return to Green Bay next season.
On top of possibly (probably) cutting ties with their best cornerback (when healthy), the Packers also may see Eric Stokes leave in free agency. Green Bay declined to pick up his fifth year option after he had two injury-plagued seasons following a stellar rookie campaign in 2021. While they still could re-sign him, he also very well may look for work elsewhere.
Needless to say, cornerback depth is a glaring issue for the Packers.
The Green Bay Packers Have Met with Lacarea Pleasant-Johnson, Nephew of Hall of Fame Head Coach Tony Dungy
According to Easton Butler of Packer Report, the Packers met with Southern Utah cornerback Lacarea Pleasant-Johnson at the Tropical Bowl. On top of playing a position Green Bay is in desperate need of depth for, Pleasant-Johnson is also a nephew of former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy.

It should be noted that prospects that play in the Tropical Bowl are typically those that could get drafted in the later rounds, or signed as undrafted free agents. Pleasant-Johnson is not in any way being looked at as a replacement for Alexander, or even Stokes.
However, his family background does make him a very intriguing prospect nonetheless.
