The Green Bay Packers still have three games to go in the regular season, but there will be changes to the defense side of the football in the offseason and one of the names to keep an eye on is New England Patriots safety Kyle Duggar.
Duggar will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season for New England and the Patriots will probably make massive changes to their football team as well. The New England Patriots are 3-11 on the season and are on track to potentially have the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Duggar is 27 years old and he has been very good for them this season. He has recorded 88 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two interceptions, and five pass deflections.
Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report mentioned about the possibility of the Green Bay Packers targeting Kyle Duggar as a free agent in the offseason by saying in his article:
“Green Bay is going to be in the safety market this offseason, as they have several impending free agents at the position, including key contributors like Darnell Savage, Rudy Ford and Jonathan Owens. While replacing three players with one is impossible, Duggar’s versatility is a big reason why he’d be a great fit with the Packers. The team is going to have a few holes to fill in the secondary, and the four-year veteran has recorded a significant amount of snaps in the box, as a deep safety and over the slot this season.”
The Green Bay Packers Targeting New England Patriots Safety Kyle Duggar Would Be a Good Idea
It is a good idea for the Packers to potentially sign Duggar as a free agent this offseason. However, Green Bay isn’t usually known for signing free agents. They usually draft and develop their own players and then either re-sign them or let them walk in free agency.
Kyle Duggar will have tons of suitors this offseason and Green Bay needs to fix its defense. They will more than likely move on from defensive coordinator Joe Barry. Duggar would be a good fit in the Packers’ secondary because they will be in a mode next season that will require them to make the playoffs and he would improve the defense on the backend tremendously to help out the offense.
