The Green Bay Packers had a solid season overall, finishing with an 11-6 record and the seventh seed in the NFC. However, there are glaring issues that need to be addressed in the offseason if the team is going to take the next step towards Super Bowl contention in 2025.
One of these issues is the pass rush, which woefully underperformed in 2024. Green Bay took its first step towards improving that area of the defense by firing defensive line coach Jason Rebrovich earlier this week. However, they also need to improve the quality of players they have on the line in order for there to be an improvement. Additionally, they need more production from their linebacker core (aside from Edgerrin Cooper).
Packers fans should expect general manager Brian Gutekunst to address this need in both free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Green Bay Packers Met with Purdue Linebacker Kydran Jenkins at the Tropical Bowl
While Cooper had a solid rookie season with the Packers in 2024, the rest of the team’s linebackers were terribly underwhelming. It would not be surprising, therefore, if Green Bay were to look at more young talent at linebacker, especially with Isaiah McDuffie entering free agency.
According to Easton Butler of Packer Report, the Packers met with Purdue linebacker Kydran Jenkins at the Tropical Bowl:
The Packers met with Purdue LB Kydran Jenkins at the Tropical Bowl yesterday, per a source. Jenkins has ositional versatility playing stand up OLB or off the ball ILB. 44 career TFLs at Purdue.

Jenkins is coming off of a senior season that saw him tally 83 total tackles, 7.0 sacks, 13 tackles for loss, and a deflected pass.
The Scouting Report on Kydran Jenkins
NFL Draft Diamonds had the following scouting report on Jenkins ahead of the 2024 season:
“Solid height and good physical frame for his position. Has a good first step off the ball with good bend/flexibility to change levels and corner edge. Solid hand technique as a pass rusher with his placement and hand technique. Overall, solid pass rush plan as he possesses a good rip move around the edge. Solid physical strength and ability to win with power, struggles to finish with bull rush but does provide a quality push.
“Has a good up field burst vs run to shoot outside the gap and beat pullers to spots. Sets a strong edge on the perimeter, extends arms well to create space and shows good block shed ability. Good tackling ability between gaps vs the run. Plays with a good motor to pursue the ball carrier until the whistle blows. Underrated versatility as he can create havoc on the interior with his quickness when rotated there.”
And while there are some things to like about the Purdue star, there are also areas in which he needs to improve:
“Toolbox is a bit thin outside of rip, lacks counter/doubles moves to keep his opponent guessing. Needs to add muscle to frame to improve his ability to win with power and finish consistently with his bull rush. Tendency to over pursue and get lost on misdirection/play action plays. Adequate sideline-to-sideline speed to chase down perimeter plays against ball carriers with plus speed. While a solid athlete overall, does not have much of a feel in coverage and shouldn’t be relied on in that area.”
At six-foot-one and 260 pounds, Jenkins certainly has the physical capability to be a solid linebacker in the NFL. It will be up to whichever team drafts him to help him become a complete player.
