The Marquette Golden Eagles and UCONN Huskies game was delayed to start on Wednesday night because of a leak in the roof. The #20 ranked Golden Eagles lost in a close one against the Huskies on the road by a final score of 72-66.

UCONN swept the season series against Marquette. With the loss for the Golden Eagles, they dropped to 22-8 overall on the season and 13-6 in Big East Conference play. As for the Huskies, they improved to 13-6 in league play and improved to 21-9 on the season. UCONN for now is the third seed in the Big East and Marquette is the fourth seed.

Golden Eagles fans feel like they are not playing well at the moment. Marquette will need to play better at some point or they could be an early exit in March Madness. This is what some of the Marquette Golden Eagles fans had to say on Twitter after the loss against the UCONN Huskies:

We’re just not quite good enough

    — Schmalex Bones (@SchmalexBones) March 6, 2025

No three point shooting, no rebounding, no adjustments=another loss. Fifth place in Big East is a real thing

    — gary57s (@iisgas) March 6, 2025

worst top 20 team of all time

    — 𝘤𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴 🇺🇸🇵🇱 (@mutd_chris) March 6, 2025

Keep grinding! It’s all you guys can do. You’ll get hot again!!!

    — Scott Best🇺🇸 (@scottieb72) March 6, 2025

Get Ben Gold as far away from this team as possible

    — Ghost of Al McGuire (@McGuireGhost) March 6, 2025

There was at one point in the season where the Golden Eagles would be a top two seed in the Big East Conference. It’s a different story now with Marquette with the Big East Tournament next week.

Only two players scored in double figures for Marquette against the UCONN Huskies. David Joplin scored 23 points and grabbed five rebounds. Kam Jones also scored 21 points, grabbed four rebounds, and recorded one assist.

Shaka Smart and the Golden Eagles will have Senior Day on Saturday against #6 St. John’s Red Storm and Rick Pitino. The Red Storm won the Big East regular season title, and there is a chance that both teams could face each other in the Big East Tournament next week also.
