The Green Bay Packers did not play well against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The third down defense rarely could get a stop, and when they did, the fourth down defense often converted for first down. Yet, somehow, the Packers were up 20-19 with 2:59 remaining in the game.
Quarterback Jordan Love gave Green Bay the lead after he rushed for a go-ahead touchdown. However, their two-point conversion attempt failed after running back Josh Jacobs was stuffed at the line of scrimmage.
After TJ Slaton and Rashan Gary sacked Bears quarterback Caleb Williams on back-to-back plays, Chicago faced third-and-19 with 2:00 left in the game. As was the case all afternoon, Green Bay’s defense allowed them to gain 16 yards on third down and then a short yardage play to convert the first down.
Green Bay Packers Defensive Lineman Karl Brooks Blocked the Game-Winning Field Goal
After converting on fourth down, Chicago got into field goal position with the clock quickly winding down. Cairo Santos had been perfect on the day, and the 46-yard attempt was well within his range (his career-long is from 55 yards out).
But Packers defensive lineman Karl Brooks was able to beat his man on the edge and got an extended hand on the football just as it left Santos’ foot.

And with that, Green Bay held on to defeat Chicago for the 11th time in a row. The Packers have yet to lose to their oldest rivals during the Matt LaFleur era and, more importantly, kept pace with the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions who also won today.
Green Bay Packers Fans Go Nuts on Social Media Following the Blocked Field Goal
As mentioned, the Packers did not play particularly well against the Bears, and fans were highly critical of certain players all afternoon.
However, the blocked field goal led to many jubilant posts:
Every day I wake up and thank God that my dad was born in Wisconsin and not one state lower. Every day. https://t.co/OsCpljniOz

Don’t matter who. Don’t matter where.

It definitely was a lot closer than it should have been; but at the end of the day, a win is a win in the NFL. Green Bay is now 7-3 with a difficult matchup against the San Francisco 49ers next weekend at Lambeau Field.
