NFL: The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings have developed quite the rivalry over the last decade or so. In fact, from 2013 to present, the Packers hold a 10-8-2 record Vs the Vikings. They have also gone 2-2 in their last four contests. Jaire Alexander and Justin Jefferson have also developed a bit of a rivalry.
hat rivalry was certainly brought to light during their last contest when Jaire Alexander did Justin Jefferson’s “griddy” celebration after a pass break-up early in the game. Today, Jefferson spoke about that celebration and how little he thinks about Alexander.
Justin Jefferson Completely Dismisses Jaire Alexander In Interview (NFL)
Jefferson firmly believes that when it comes to Alexander, he really doesn’t have to concern himself with the Pro Bowl cornerback, reports NFL on CBS:
“Nobody’s really worried about him. It just goes to show you the amount of attention that he was trying to give me. You can’t call a 180 yarder a fluke. That’s something that’s not a fluke, you can’t just walk up on 180 yards in the NFL.”
The two all-pros shined at different times against each other in 2022. Jefferson won the first bout easily. Week one of the 2022 season he hauled in 9 receptions on 11 targets for 184 yards and two touchdowns. The Vikings won that game 23-7 and started their season off on the right note.
Jaire Alexander had his own stand out performance during the second to last week of the season. In that game Alexander held Jefferson to 1 reception on 5 targets for 15 yards and no scores. The Packers demolished the Vikings in that game 41-17 (and it wasn’t even that close).
What To Expect From The Green Bay Packers And Minnesota Vikings Going Into 2023?
The Packers and Vikings will play in weeks 7 (in Green Bay) and 16 (in Minnesota) during the 2023 season. The Packers have obviously ushered in a new era with the massive amount of personnel turnover. The Vikings have moved on from a few key veterans such as Dalvin Cook, Adam Thielen, and Za’Darius Smith. However, the Vikings still believe they are in a Super Bowl window after finishing with one of the best records in the NFL last year.
Alexander and Jefferson will be chomping at the bit to get back on the field to see who wins that battle of this on-going war. It is no secret that each player is one of the best at their position in the entire NFL and (at least) one of them showcase it every time they match up against each other.
