The Green Bay Packers fell short of their goal for the 2024 NFL season, which was to go to and win the Super Bowl. Their 22-10 loss at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles shined a glaringly bright spotlight on the flaws and mistakes that plagued the team all season long.
The wide receiver room simply was not as deep as they thought it was, though it is tough for any team to over come the loss of their top three pass catchers. Christian Watson, of course, did not play as he tore his ACL in Green Bay’s loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 18. Both Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed left the Wild Card loss to the Eagles with injuries. Doubs suffered another concussion and Reed dislocated his shoulder.
In addition to the injuries, the young Packers team made multiple mental errors, mistakes that they made time and again all year long. Keisean Nixon fumbled the opening kickoff, Jordan Love forced throws and threw three interceptions, and the team was called for two personal fouls.
Green Bay Packers Running Back Josh Jacobs Is Going to Hit the Recruiting Trail
It must be understood that the Packers are the youngest team in the NFL. They were also the second-youngest team in NFL history to make it to the postseason. Only last year’s team was younger.
That being said, it should be crystal clear to the organization that they cannot hope to advance in the NFL Playoffs by relying on such a young roster. They have to go out and get some veterans, something that running back Josh Jacobs plans to help them do:
Josh Jacobs said the motivation for 2025 is for the #Packers to get over the hump when facing the top tier teams.
As far as next year’s roster, he says, “I know I’m going to try and get some guys in here. Most definitely that.” pic.twitter.com/7eIZrTzNLy

“The main thing on my mind is how do we take that step. How do I help the guys take that step. But, like I said, we got some guys, you know, that locker room is going to be different. We got some guys due for a contract this year. We don’t know how that’s going to look like, how that’s going to shape up.
“But I know I’m going to try to get some guys in here. Most definitely that.”
In other words, Jacobs, one of the best running backs in the NFL, who is highly respected by players all around the league, is going to go out and try to recruit players to come to Green Bay.
The Green Bay Packers Obviously Had a Profound Impact on Josh Jacobs
When Jacobs first signed with the Packers last offseason, there was a great deal of talk that the four-year $48 million contract was really just a one-year deal. That is because Green Bay notoriously never guarantees money in a contract beyond one year.
Many thought that Jacobs would come to Green Bay, spend a year with the Packers, and then be released to seek a richer deal somewhere else.
Based on his production this year, though, and his comments referenced above, it is clear that neither he nor the Packers plan on parting ways in 2025. The history and tradition in Green Bay is something that everyone who dons the Green and Gold appreciates, and it is apparent that Jacobs wants to bring another Super Bowl trophy home where it belongs.
And he is willing to help go get the players that the Packers need to get that done.
