Three former Wisconsin Badgers helped the Indy Ignite make history on Saturday, January 11. Two players and one coach are members of the Indy Ignite, in which they are in their inaugural season as an organization in the Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF).
Three former Wisconsin Badgers are members of the Indy Ignite
The Indy Ignite are currently coached by George Padjen, but one of his assistants is former Wisconsin Badgers volleyball player Izzy Ashburn. On the court, former Badgers middle blocker CC Crawford and setter Sydney Hilley are teammates. They just missed crossing paths in college, but now are working together on the Ignite.
The Indy Ignite made history with their first win
In front of a sold out crowd at Fishers Event Center, the Indy Ignite took care of business by defeating the Orlando Valkyries in four sets. Indy dropped the first set 13-25, but then rebounded by winning the next three 25-19, 25-17, 25-21. This victory marked Indy Ignites first win in the PVF.
How did CC Crawford and Syndey Hilley perform?
CC Crawford started all four sets for the Ignite and finished with four kills, one block, five digs, and three assists. Setter Sydney Hilley was also a starter, recording 44 assists, 15 digs, four kills, and one ace. Member-Meneh Leketor paced the teams with 25 kills and Tealer Azhani 19 kills.
