There is a lot to unpack from the Green Bay Packers’ 27-25 loss on the road at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Jordan Love and the Packers got the early lead with a field goal in the first quarter by Brandon McManus, but not before Green Bay fumbled the ball in the game’s opening drive.
That was just the start of the many miscues in the contest by the Packers, who also failed to convert on a fourth-down situation in scoring range, committed a couple of illegal formation penalties and were penalized for having too many men in the huddle.
That is not to mention the offside during a missed field goal attempt by the Vikings. All the errors added up for the Packers, whose fiery fourth quarter was not enough to overcome a huge lead and complete a come-from-behind win.
Love knows the Packers still have plenty of work to do.
“We know what type of team we are,” Love said after the game, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN). “There’s just a lot of stuff to clean up.”
The good news for the Packers is that they are still going to the NFL playoffs despite yet another loss to the Vikings, who won the first meeting between these teams back in Week 4, 31-29. It can be recalled that the Vikings established a 28-point lead in that game before the Packers mounted a scorching run that ultimately fell short of a successful comeback.
Love passed for 185 yards anda touchdown with zero interceptions on Sunday while also taking three sacks for a loss of 18 yards. He and the Packers will next take on the Chicago Bears in a regular-season finale at Lambeau Field in Week 18.
