The Green Bay Packers, at 4-6, are still in the hunt for a NFC Playoff spot. Of course, making the NFL Playoffs in Jordan Love’s first year as the starting quarterback would mean that the team was able to right the ship after losing four straight games earlier this season.
Obviously, to be 4-6, a great deal has gone wrong with the team. While Love and the offense have struggled, and their mistakes highlighted by both local and national media, the defense has also had its fair share of question marks.
And of course, the scapegoat for the defense’s struggles is defensive coordinator Joe Barry. His scheme is widely criticized by fans week in and week out, and perhaps rightly so. In fact, if the Los Angeles Chargers wide receivers had not dropped two easy touchdown passes on Sunday, Green Bay would be sitting at 3-7.
Early Tuesday morning, news broke that the Pittsburgh Steelers fired their offensive coordinator Matt Canada. As many fans may recall, Canada and the Steelers defeated the Packers 23-19 just a little over a week ago. His firing led fans to highlight Barry’s poor standing among the fanbase on social media.
Green Bay Packers Fans Are Quick to Point Out Joe Barry Was Outcoached by Matt Canada
The Steelers made the decision to part ways with Canada following their 13-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. In that game, Pittsburgh was able to muster just 278 yards on offense, including a woeful 106 passing yards.
Of course, Barry’s defense gave up 324 yards to the Steelers, the majority of those also coming on the ground. In fact, the Packers’ fun defense has given up more 200+ yard rushing games than any other team this season.
As one might imagine, Packers fans were quick to point out how Barry was outcoached by Canada immediately after the latter’s firiing:
Rejoice Steelers fans! Barry next? https://t.co/gRerLKQ2Qn

After the game against the Chargers on Sunday, Matt LaFleur went out of his way to praise Barry’s defensive schemes. One hopes that, despite the win, the obvious issues with the defense get addressed soon, whether in season or in the offseason, and the heart of those issues is coaching.

Roasting?? Roasting???? I would reserve that term for celebrity comedians and for cooking fowls in ovens. And, not for Deadwood Barry. He is actually a turkey as far as a NFL coach. He just doesn’t cut it as having an inkling of strategy or possess any motivation. Simply put, he doesn’t try and win. Then when he loses with his moronic game plays, he ridicules his players when he is actually at fault. He is lacking in all of the key components as a coordinator. But, who is to blame for Barry or Pettine? Well, LaFluer is.
