The Philadelphia Eagles will open their 2024 NFL campaign in unfamiliar territory, as Jalen Hurts and company will play the Green Bay Packers in Sao Paulo, Brazil, for the NFL’s first-ever game in the South American country.
For Hurts, who had not been to the continent before, the opportunity to see action in Brazil is giving him something to reflect on with regard to what he’s accomplished so far in his football journey.
“Just having the opportunity to come this far in this journey and to be where we are, my spirit is full of gratitude to be here, and [I’ve] really just [been] reflecting on how [far] the journey has come for me,” Hurts said, per Olivia Reiner of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Hurts is eager to lead the Eagles to a win right out of the gate this season, especially with how things turned out for Philadelphia in the 2023 campaign where they had a brutal stretch toward the end before getting booted out of the playoffs via an upset loss to Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild-card round.
Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles hoping to start the 2024 NFL season the right way by beating the Green Bay Packers in Sao Paulo
This time around, Hurts will get help from a big offseason acquisition by the Eagles – running back Saquon Barkley. He also still has the 1-2 downfield combo of wide receivers AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith.
The Packers are no pushovers, though. Green Bay is feeling good after proving in 2023 that they can still be a playoff contender even after just parting ways with Aaron Rodgers. With Jordan Love at the helm of the Packers’ attack, Green Bay can give Philadelphia headaches in Brazil.
