The Green Bay Packers are heading into their first offseason without any quarterback drama. Ever since general manager Brian Gutekunst traded up to take Jordan Love in the 2020 NFL Draft, there have been questionable stories and rumors surrounding the team, almost entirely thanks to former quarterback Aaron Rodgers. From the moment Love was drafted, Rodgers and the front office played a secret (yet not so secret) game of chess surrounding his contract and how long he would remain with the team.
That song and dance last for three years and, frankly, wore the fanbase’s patience with Rodgers’ ever-growing eccentricities thin. When Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets, many fans were just excited to bid farewell to the drama.
It certainly helped that Love went out and had the best season ever for a Packers quarterback in his first year as the starter. He compiled a 64.2% completion percentage, 4,159 passing yards, 32 touchdown passes, 11 interceptions, and a 96.1 passer rating.
But the 2023 season was not without its share of drama either. Issues on the defense came to a head in Week 16 when star cornerback Jaire Alexander made himself a captain and went out for the coin toss with the other captains. As a result, he was suspended for the Packers’ Week 17 game against the Minnesota Vikings. However, he came back, played well, and by all accounts his relationship with the coaching staff has improved since then.
Green Bay Packers Cornerback Jaire Alexander Posts a Cryptic Message on Social Media
Despite the fact that both Alexander and Matt LaFleur said their relationship was better than it had ever been, there were still some fans that questioned whether or not he would remain with the organization after this season. It appears that Alexander decided to send a message to these (and all) fans with his latest social media post:
𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚: #Packers star CB Jaire Alexander posted what seems like a farewell to Packers fans on his Instagram.
“Thank you God. Thank you Lambeau, for 6 years. Thank you to those who showed love throughout my journey.”

Instead of saying “Thank for my sixth year,” he said “Thank you for six years,” leading many fans to assume the Packers would trade him this offseason.
However, those fans did not wait until the end of his post:

Jaire Alexander Is Not Leaving the Green Bay Packers
Once he got back from his suspension, Alexander told the media:
“I think it was definitely something that I can learn from. There are definitely things that I could have improved upon during that week. Particularly with communication. And moving forward, that won’t happen again.
“I think communicating is big. I mean, I can talk to my guys, and talking to anybody else would be a little bit of a challenge, and I got to be better at that.
“It felt good [to be back on the practice field]. It’s always good to be on the field, just with the guys. It’s the best time.
“[My shoulder] is getting better, you know, just taking it day by day.
“My role [on the team] hasn’t really changed. Just continue to be the leader that I have been and making the plays that come to me.
“I’m very grateful to be here. [The suspension] did not affect my relationship with anybody. In fact, I think it may have improved it.”
Being grateful to be a Packer and having a great relationship with everyone does not sound like a player who is forcing his way out.
