The Green Bay Packers have been in the preseason top 10 rankings for different websites over the past several years. They were Super Bowl contenders with Aaron Rodgers as their quarterback. However, now things seem to be different heading into 2023.
Green Bay Packers Scattered In 2023 NFL Preseason Rankings
Rodgers is no longer with the team, and the outside perception of the Green Bay Packers with Jordan Love as their quarterback is a lot different now. Many people feel they are either a middle-of-the-pack to a below-average football team.
Three different websites have already ranked the Green Bay Packers in their preseason rankings out of 32 teams in the NFL. Sports Illustrated ranked them as the 17th-best NFL team heading into the 2023 NFL season.
Their reasoning was:
“The Packers are sitting here at no.17 because, to me, it paints them as what I feel they will be: a disruptor on the fringes ready to make some serious noise,” SI’s Conor Orr Wrote. “This is a faith in the system and a faith in the staff above all else, and while we can’t ignore the weight of losing someone like Rodgers, we also can’t ignore how much better the four-time MVP became playing for Matt LaFleur late in his career.”
Sports Illustrated feels as if the Green Bay Packers will be contending for a wild card spot during the regular season and that they also have a very good roster.
Bleacher Report Ranking
Bleacher Report feels like the Green Bay Packers will be a bottom-10 team in the NFL this season. They have them ranked as the 24th-best team in the NFL. Bleacher Report notes e limited weapons in the wide receiver room with Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs.
This is the lowest the Green Bay Packers are ranked in any NFL preseason poll.
Green Bay Packers PFF Ranking
The Green Bay Packers are ranked 18th in the preseason poll on Pro Football Focus. Green Bay didn’t make many moves during free agency this offseason. They made moves in the NFL Draft to improve the weapons for Jordan Love with drafting Jayden Reed and Luke Musgrave to go along with Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs.
Even with how good the defense can be, there are question marks at the safety position. The Green Bay Packers hope to make noise during the regular season and move up the power rankings throughout the year.
