The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings have become a very interesting rivalry as of late. Since 2013, the Packers are 10-8-2 against the Vikings. Over recent years, their passing attack has been led by All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson. Jefferson won the 2022 AP Offensive Player of the Year award after he caught 128 passes, went for 1,809 yards, and scored eight touchdowns. He has 324 receptions, 4,825 yards, and 25 touchdowns in his career. On Tuesday, the Vikings made a decision on his future.
Green Bay Packers Fans React To Justin Jefferson’s Fifth Year Option
Green Bay Packers fans are buzzing because the Minnesota Vikings made a massive move for star wideout Justin Jefferson. On Tuesday, Minnesota exercised the fifth-year option in Jefferson’s contract, ensuring that the All-Pro receiver would stay a Viking in 2024.
The move, considered a “no-brainer” by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, comes at an excellent time for Jefferson. The former LSU standout led the NFL in receptions and receiving yards in 2022. In 2021, he led the league in receiving touchdowns. He’s nearly accumulated 5,000 receiving yards just three years into his NFL career. Jefferson is poised to make nearly $20 million next season thanks to the Vikings kicking the option in. $19.73 million, to be precise, according to Spotrac. After that, he’s set to be a free agent, but Minnesota would be wise to try and lock the star receiver up on a long-term deal.
