At least a handful of Green Bay Packers fans seem to be delighted with the devastating Aaron Rodgers injury news. This is after the New York Jets debutant had to be carted off the field early in the first quarter of Sunday’s Week 1 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. The 39-year-old could be done for the season, and it appears that some Packers fans are taking pleasure in this shocking turn of events.
Green Bay Packers Fans Erupt in Bar After Seeing Aaron Rodgers Go Down
CBS58 reporter A.J. Bayatpour was in a Milwaukee bar to watch the Jets take on the Buffalo Bills in Week 1. Apparently, the bar had a promo wherein all the drinks would be on the house if Rodgers and New York lost. This is exactly why the folks in attendance started cheering the moment they saw A-Rod hit the deck early in the first quarter:
The people hear roared when Rodgers got sacked…and cheered again when they realized he was hurt.
The free booze condition is Rodgers must start the game. Doesn’t say anything about him needing to finish it https://t.co/e0D3XyBXDR pic.twitter.com/FolOHTK9Nd

It goes without saying that the bar patrons really, really wanted their free drinks.
NFL Twitter Reacts to ‘Disgusting’ Green Bay Packers Fans
The video clip has now gone viral, and more than a few folks on the mean streets of Twitter aren’t at all pleased with this lack of respect from these “disgusting” set of Packers fans:
THIS IS DISGUSTING: Many #Packers fans sitting in a bar clapped and cheered when Aaron Rodgers went down and cheered again when they figured out he was injured

Disgusting for sure. And I’m a Packers shareholder. I would love to see him have a great season and wish him a healthy recovery and career as a Jet.

#Packers fans cheering when Rodgers got hurt because they thought it meant they would get free beer…the bar is offering a promotion if the jets lose.
Karma for applauding an injury, as the #Jets won and nobody got free beer.

As was pointed out by a lot of other keyboard warriors, the nine-second video shows how the fans started cheering right after Rodgers got sacked by Giants OL Leonard Floyd. It’s not uncommon for fans to cheer a sack, which is why some people believe that the bar-goers didn’t do anything wrong here.
Then again, you also have to note that in his original tweet, Bayatpour also said that the fans in attendance “cheered again when they realized he was hurt.” It’s definitely okay to cheer for a sack. However, it just doesn’t seem right to wish harm on any player — regardless of his history with your team.
You could also argue that the fans were not aware of Rodgers’ injury when they started cheering shortly after “they realized he was hurt.” It wasn’t until later in the evening that it was revealed that the four-time NFL MVP may have suffered a season-ending injury. Nevertheless, the fact remains that these Packers supporters were still cheering after learning about Rodgers’ initial injury.
