The Green Bay Packers are busy preparing for the NFL Draft at the end of the month. One position that the Packers will likely look towards is the wide receiver position. Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs are solid but more depth is needed. While the Packers usually do not take receivers in the first round, they have been great at finding value in the middle and late rounds. The team is hosting dynamic wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks ahead of the draft.

Green Bay Packers Hosting Dontayvion Wicks
Wicks is a 6-foot-1, 206-pound receiver out of the University of Virginia. He had a solid NFL Combine but an even better pro day with numbers that put him in elite categories. His explosiveness is something that the Packers are drawn to and fits the mold of players that GM Brian Gutekunst likes to draft. 2021 was his best season as he had 1,203 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns. He had a subpar 2022 but that was mostly due to injury. There are questions about his hands but some scouts think that is due to the offense he was in. No doubt this will be something the Packers are looking for during the visit.

Mid-Round Receivers
There are a lot of mid-round receiver prospects in this year’s draft. There are definitely players at the top but overall, there is a large number of players who could be a great value pick in rounds 2-4. In terms of Wicks, it would not be the first time that the team took a receiver who had problems with drops. Watson’s big knock was his drops and while he had a big one in week 1 against the Vikings, he overall showed good hands throughout the season.
Dontayvion Wicks is the first wide receiver to have a top-30 visit with the Green Bay Packers and it likely will not be the last. The Packers have many roster holes to fill and it will be interesting to see which ones they prioritize in April’s draft.
