Green Bay Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks practiced for the second consecutive day after missing last week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings with a chest injury. Wicks is on track to play on Sunday afternoon against the Chicago Bears (7-9) in a must-win situation.
Dontayvion Wicks last played on 12/24 against the Carolina Panthers and he left that game with an injury. In that contest, he only caught two passes for 29 yards receiving and a touchdown, with averaging 14.5 yards per catch. Wicks was only targeted twice in that football game.
On the year, he has caught 33 passes for 520 yards receiving and two touchdowns, along with averaging 15.8 yards per reception. Wicks also has one-yard rushing on one carry this season. He has been targeted 51 times this season by quarterback Jordan Love.
Dontayvion Wicks has only missed two games this season due to injury and has stepped up when called upon this year. Green Bay’s offense is going to need his play-making ability on Sunday afternoon against Chicago. Four wide sets with him, Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Romeo Doubs is going to be a good scene for quarterback Jordan Love and will be very tough for the Chicago Bears offense to slow down.
Dontayvion Wicks Being Back for the Green Bay Packers Means That Bo Melton Might Be Inactive
With Wicks returning possibly on Sunday for Green Bay against Chicago, Bo Melton could be the odd-man out in the receiving rotation after having a 100-yard game last week against the Minnesota Vikings. It was the first time this season that a Packers receiver went over 100 yards and there were times that Dontayvion Wicks was very close to that mark. Malik Heath is currently the fifth wide receiver on the roster.
Melton is signed on the 53-man roster for the remainder of the season for the Packers but will see what happens if Reed, Watson, and Wicks all return from injury. Wicks has been productive in games he has played in. He is only a rookie and is one of the fan favorites in Green Bay.
