The Green Bay Packers have all of a sudden found themselves at 2-5 this year and looking at a possible top draft pick in 2024. Many have presumed that the Packers would be “buyers” at this year’s trade deadline, however, that may not be the case.
There is one All-Pro on the defensive side of the ball that has apparently garnered the interest of a Super Bowl contender this year. It will be interesting to see if the Packers would pull the trigger on this type of trade and gather as many draft picks as possible moving forward.
The Philadelphia Eagles Are Reportedly Interested In Green Bay Packers All-Pro Linebacker De’Vondre Campbell

Dan Powers/USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin.
Even with the acquisition of Kevin Byard from the Tennessee Titans, the Philadelphia Eagles may not be finished yet prior to the trade deadline. General manager Howie Roseman is looking at off-ball linebacker options, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic. It may be possible to find a solution with the Green Bay Packers. In a recent report:
The Packers are 2-5, and their youth movement might be accentuated before the trade deadline. If Green Bay’s general manager Brian Gutekunst wants to go a step further on a rebuilding plan, trading veteran pieces would be a solid move. And, considering the Packers drafted off-ball linebacker Quay Walker in the first round last year, moving an older player from the same position makes sense.
Campbell is probably not as good as he was in 2021, when he had a career year — generating his highest PFF grade, 84.7, and making the first-team as an All-Pro. But he is still a reliable linebacker. Over the last two years, his PFF grades are 75.6 in 2022 and 73.9 through seven games this season.
Those numbers are all better than he had been for the Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals before arriving in Green Bay. And they are also better than Zach Cunningham and Nakobe Dean — Nicholas Morrow has been the Eagles best off-ball linebacker in 2023.
After the 2021 season, the Packers decided to reward Campbell with a five-year extension, so he’s under contract through 2026. But the deal is pretty affordable to be acquired if the Eagles want to do so.
Would The Green Bay Packers Actually Be Interested In Trading Campbell?

This is a rather interesting name to bring up. Trading away a 30-year-old linebacker when you have a young stud in Quay Walker may be a realistic option. Obviously, it would depend on draft compensation in return but there is no doubt that Campbell’s play as declined since his All-Pro 2021 season.
Campbell has had a fairly productive 2023 season so far racking up 36 total tackles through seven games. It would heavily depend on what the front office decides to do regarding the future of this team. While the immediate future does not look optimistic regarding Super Bowl contention (let alone playoff contention) if this team believes they could be in the mix in 2024 or even 2025, keeping around a veteran like Campbell could be extremely beneficial for this defense.
