With their victory over the Dallas Cowboys, the Green Bay Packers will move on to the divisional round of the 2023 playoffs. When it came to the playoffs, the Packers were all but forgotten halfway through the season. Now, they are one of only eight teams left in the playoffs.
On Saturday Night, the Packers will face the San Francisco 49ers out west. In preparation for that matchup, the Packers brought in a former Dolphins defender for a workout.
The Green Bay Packers Bring In A Former Miami Dolphins Rookie Prior To Their Playoff Matchup Against The San Francisco 49ers
According to reporter Aaron Wilson, the Packers have brought in Deandre Johnson for a workout.
As a result of Enagbare’s injury, Green Bay brought in Johnson for a workout on Monday. The Packers play the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, which means they have an off day on Monday instead of Tuesday. Off days are typically used by Green Bay to work out players.
As a rookie in 2022, Johnson played for the Miami Dolphins before moving on to the XFL, where he played for the Houston Roughnecks. In nine games, Johnson recorded 15 tackles and a sack despite never starting for the Roughnecks.
There was a wealth of talent at 4-3 defensive end and 3-4 outside linebacker in the NFL Draft class of 2022. On film, Miami’s Deandre Johnson flashes. As a pass rusher and in coverage, his stellar length and above-average movement skills make him a promising prospect. Unfortunately, his lack of pass rush arsenal, stiffness, and concerning play strength cast doubt on his ability to compete for a spot on a 53-man roster.
It will be interesting to see if the Packers take a flyer on this prospect as they are looking for depth after losing Enagbare for the rest of the year.
