The Green Bay Packers have entered a new era in their franchise’s history. Aaron Rodgers has been traded to the New York Jets and 2020 first round NFL Draft pick Jordan Love is the new starting quarterback. This changing of the guard has implied that things will look a little different on offense.
With change brings uncertainty, and the entire NFL world will be watching the Packers closely all season long. That being said, there are more than a few things head coach Matt LaFleur can draw up with a 24-year old quarterback than he could with one that is nearing 40.
It was these possibilities that David Bakhitari was referring to in a recent interview with ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Green Bay Packers Left Tackle Praises Jordan Love’s Athleticism While Joking about How Slow Aaron Rodgers Is

When talking to Fowler, Bakhtiari said that Rodgers “is slow as s–t.” Of course, he was joking about his former teammate and still close friend. However, he was not completely wrong. Rodgers, who is going to be 40 years old this year, is not as mobile as he used to be.
According to Next Gen Stats, Rodgers had the worst EPA (Expected Points Added) of his career in 2022 with -16.5. His diminished mobility limited what the Packers offense could do, something that will not be an issue with the more athletic Love.
Of Love, Bakhtiari quipped that the Packers “actually have an athletic quarterback who can move around.” In the Packers’ 36-19 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in their first preseason game, Love was not pressured at all on his 10 drop backs, so his athleticism in the pocket was not needed.
That being said, Green Bay will face plenty of tough defenses in the 2023 NFL regular season. There will still be time for fans to see how athletic he is, and how much different (in a good way) he is than his predecessor.
David Bakhtiari humorously comments on Rodgers’ speed and praises Jordan Love’s potential. Dive deeper into Aaron Rodgers News and explore the latest Green Bay Packers Rumors to stay updated on team dynamics and shifts.
