The Green Bay Packers play two games in five days next week. They host the New Orleans Saints on Sunday before having to travel to Michigan to face the Detroit Lions on Thursday.
At this point, the status of star offensive tackle David Bakhtiari remains up in the air for Green Bay. The three-time Pro Bowler missed their Week 2 loss to the Atlanta Falcons due to a knee injury, and he is now in danger of being forced to sit out his team’s upcoming games.
David Bakhtiari Reveals Injury Status
Bakhtiari has now spoken out about his injury status for their upcoming matchups against the Saints and the Lions. According to the two-time All-Pro tackle, it’s still very much possible that he’s available for both contests:
“I would never rule that out,” he said, via Bill Huber of Packer Central. “This could be the only game I miss. I don’t know. I’m just making sure I check my boxes and I’m able and ready and then, when it is, great, go out and play. It’s s**tty. I mean, I don’t know. Maybe when I’m retired, I’ll give you guys the full details, but there’s only so much I feel I can give without giving up a competitive advantage.”
Bakhtiari hasn’t given us much to work with here, which could be a pain in the butt for his fantasy owners. It seems that the 31-year-old himself is currently unaware of whether or not his knee will heal up in time for Sunday’s Week 3 game against the Saints. At this point, I probably won’t bet my money on Bakh suiting up for that one.
Green Bay Packers Star David Bakhtiari Remaining Optimistic
Then again, the silver lining here is that Bakhtiari appears to be trending in the right direction. The Packers star still hasn’t fully recovered from his ACL injury from three years ago. However, Bakhtiari was able to put in an entire preseason for Green Bay. Right now, he’s hoping that his recent injury absence is more of a fluke as opposed to a regular occurrence.
“I think there’s a lot of things that do work,” Bakhtiari said. “I think it’s just tweaking, fine-tuning, being on the same page with doc and the training room and with the coaches to make sure that, are we doing everything we can to make me available on Sunday?”
