Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson left on the final drive of the game with a knee injury in a 19-17 loss on the road against the Denver Broncos, which dropped Green Bay to 2-4 on the year. Watson has been dealing with injury issues so far in 2023.
Sunday was not the first time this season that Christain Watson dealt with an injury. He missed the first three games of the 2023 regular season with a hamstring injury, and the Packers went 2-1 in those games. They are 0-3 in games he has played this season.
So far this season, he has only caught eight passes for 143 yards receiving and one touchdown. Watson is averaging 17.9 yards per reception so far this season in three games. He needs to be more involved in the offense, but quarterback Jordan Love has not been able to get him the football deep, and it has been hurting his production so far.
One of the more important things for Watson this week is for him to practice. If he doesn’t have much practice time this week for the Packers, he can very well be sidelined in Week 8 against the Minnesota Vikings, although it may not be a bad thing for this offense at all.
The Green Bay Packers Injury Report Will First be Released on Wednesday, and Will See if Christian Watson is On It Once Again
There is no practice on Tuesday for Green Bay, so we will have our first injury report of the week on Wednesday, when they will practice. The Packers will have a bunch of people on this list, most likely, and we will see if Watson winds up on this list once again.
He and Love need to be practicing and connecting on the deep ball, and it seems as if chemistry has been lost between those two. Head coach Matt LaFleur needs to call a better game, also. Jordan Love’s top wide receiver target this season has been Romeo Doubs. If Christian Watson doesn’t practice much this week, it won’t be good for him but it will open up the door once again for rookie wide receivers Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks to step up.
