The Green Bay Packers seem to be building something special. In what was supposed to be a “rebuilding” year, the Packers found themselves as one of the final four remaining NFC teams in the playoffs. Additionally, they were three points away from reaching the conference championship.
Jordan Love and this young Packers offense proved to the league that they can score points on any defense. Today, General Manager Brian Gutekunst revealed that he fully expects one of the offensive stars back in 2024.
Green Bay Packers General Manager Makes Huge Statement About Aaron Jones’ Future With The Team
According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN:
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst sounds open to signing Jordan Love to a contract extension this offseason, saying it’s “something we’ll start working on in the next few months.”
Gutekunst also said he expects Aaron Jones back next season and has no plans to trade Jaire Alexander.

Aaron Jones Is Vital To The Packers’ Success
Having Jones back in 2024 and paying him $11.1 million are two very different things. Considering the market for running backs, it’s hard to sell.
In 2023, Jones rushed for 656 yards in 11 games. Running backs in their twilight years are hard to justify a salary of eight figures, however, Jones proved to be the heart and soul of this offense.
When the time comes to re-do Jones’ contract, Gutekunst might simply believe Jones will be reasonable. It’s also possible Gutekunst knows the Packers will commit more money to Jones than anyone else will if he’s released because of his importance to the team.
Jones ran 18 times for 108 yards in the 49ers’ loss. As reported by the broadcast, he ran for over 100 yards in five consecutive games for the first time in Packer history:
- Week 16 at Carolina: 21 carries for 127 yards
- Week 17 at Minnesota: 20 carries for 120 yards
- Week 18 vs Chicago: 22 carries for 111 yards
- Wild Card at Dallas: 21 carries for 118 yards and three touchdowns
- Divisional Round at San Francisco: 18 carries for 108 yards
Jones was key in the Packers’ post-season success. Something they’ll certainly was to replicate in 2024.
