The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame has announced the Bart and Cherry Starr Award winner for 2024. Packers.com website explains the significance of the award.
The Bart and Cherry Starr Recognition Award recognizes a person who has exemplified outstanding character and leadership in their field of expertise, while consistently demonstrating a personal conviction and commitment to the Green Bay Packers.
This Packers legend truly deserves an award and is beloved by multiple generations of fans.
Green Bay Packers Legend Wins The Award
Larry McCarren played center for the Packers from 1973 to 1984. McCarren was known for his durability and played in 162 consecutive games, which is the sixth-longest streak in team history. He was also voted to the Pro Bowl in 1982 and 1983. He was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame in 1992.
After retiring in 1984, McCarren became a broadcast journalist and has been announcing all of the Packers games for the last 27 years.
McCarren won four Wisconsin Sportscaster of the Year awards from the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association in 1994, 1996, 2002, and 2007. In 2016, he was inducted into the Wisconsin Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
Larry deserves this award the most, and he will carry on the legacy of Bart and Cherry Starr for years to come.
