Although the 2025 NFL Draft is still far away, there are several guys the Green Bay Packers can target by that time. The foremost among these players is Ohio State left tackle Josh Simmons, as pitched by an expert draft analyst.
Born and raised in San Diego, California, Simmons attended Helix High School where he was a highly-rated four-star recruit. Simmons initially committed to play college football at San Diego State University, where he started all 13 games as a redshirt freshman in 2022.

After the 2022 season, Simmons decided to enter the NCAA transfer portal to continue his collegiate career elsewhere. He ultimately chose to transfer to the Ohio State University, where he is set to be the Buckeyes’ starting left tackle in 2023. At 6’5″ and 310 pounds, Simmons possesses the ideal size and athletic traits for the offensive tackle position.
While his pass protection technique needs refinement, Simmons is regarded as a powerful run blocker who can climb to the second level and adjust to moving targets. With continued development under Ohio State’s coaching staff, he has the potential to emerge as a reliable starter and potentially hear his name called in the NFL Draft down the line.
NFL Expert Names Ohio State’s Josh Simmons As Potential 2025 Draft Target for Green Bay Packers

While the draft is still around a year away, the Packers must do their due diligence in picking the right guy by that time. According to an article written by Justis Mosqueda, draft expert Trevor Sikkema suggested Simmons for Green Bay in 2025.
“Simmons is a former three-star recruit who started his career at San Diego State before transferring to Ohio State to be the team’s left tackle. He’s a bit shorter than average, at 6-foot-5 and 310 pounds, but his arm length looks longer than his height suggests.
Simmons also has great knee bend and balance, quick footwork and a patient pass-blocking style. I am a big fan of his potential and could see him being a Packers type of player if Jordan Morgan ends up at guard.”
Of course, getting Simmons would be dependent on how the Packers will perform next season. If the Jordan Love-team surpasses what they’ve done during the previous campaign, the standing in the 2025 NFL Draft might go down.

At this point in time, general manager Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur must review which player they’re going to pick next year. If it ends up with Simmons as their choice, there’s a chance the Packers’ front office won’t regret doing so.
