The Green Bay Packers enjoyed many years of Aaron Rodgers as their franchise quarterback.
Hate him or love him, there’s no denying the new Jets QB was one of the best signal callers to suit up in green and gold and his accomplishments during his time in Green Bay will never be forgotten.
After backing up Brett Favre for the first three years of his NFL career, Rodgers became the Packers’ starting quarterback in 2008. In the 2010 season, he led them to a victory in Super Bowl XLV over the Pittsburgh Steelers, earning the Super Bowl MVP. He was named Associated Press Athlete of the Year in 2011, and was voted league MVP by the Associated Press for the 2011, 2014, 2020, and 2021 NFL seasons. Rodgers is the fifth player to win NFL MVP in consecutive seasons, joining Peyton Manning, Favre, Joe Montana and Jim Brown.
Rodgers has led the NFL six times in touchdown-to-interception ratio (2011, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2020, 2021), six times in lowest passing interception percentage (2009, 2014, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021), four times in passer rating (2011, 2012, 2020, 2021) and four times in touchdown passing percentage (2011, 2012, 2020, 2021), three times in total touchdowns (2011, 2016, 2020), twice in touchdown passes (2016, 2020) and once in yards per attempt (2011) and completion percentage (2020).
Aaron Rodgers is first on the NFL’s all-time regular-season career passer rating list, with a regular-season career passer rating of over 100 (the first to ever have a career rating over 100) while also having had the highest passer rating, the best touchdown-to-interception ratio and the lowest passing interception percentage in NFL history throughout the entire 2010s decade.
His accomplishments with the Packers don’t stop there.
In the postseason, he is second in both touchdown passes & touchdown-to-interception ratio, fourth in passing yards, and fifth in all-time passer rating. In the regular season, he has the best touchdown-to-interception ratio in NFL history at 4.52, holds the league’s lowest career interception percentage at 1.4 percent and the highest single-season passer rating record of 122.5. Rodgers is also a four-time winner of the Best NFL Player ESPY Award.
From 2014 to 2021, the former Packers QB developed a chemistry with WR Davante Adams that made the duo one of the best in the NFL for several years.
Adams had more than 1,000 yards receiving in three of his seasons with his former Packers QB, including two ridiculous campaigns during Rodgers back-to-back MVP seasons in 2020 and 2021. Adams closed out 2020 with 115 receptions for 1,374 yards and an eye-popping 18 touchdowns. He followed that performance up with a career-high, catching 123 balls for 1,553 yards and another 11 touchdowns.
Beyond the 1,000+ yard seasons. Davante Adams surpassed 800 yards receiving in three other campaigns with Rodgers as his quarterback, including two where he was literally three yards short of the 1,000 yard mark finishing with 997 yards in 2016 and 2019.
Green Bay Packers Stars Could Be Reunited In New York In Proposed Trade
Rodgers has made it abundantly clear he plans to return to the New York Jets in 2024 — and while he will take over an offense loaded with talent, from rookie WR Garrett Wilson to electric RB Breece Hall, a recent article from Bleacher Report stated the possibility of Adams reuniting with his old QB in a trade that could take place this offseason.
Here’s what the piece proposed:
Raiders Receive: 2024 first-round pick
Jets Receive: WR Davante Adams
The 2024 season is going to be a big one for the New York Jets. So far, the Aaron Rodgers trade gets an “incomplete” grade, because the star quarterback tore his Achilles before we even saw what the offense could look like with him at the helm.
That puts even more pressure on 2024. Rodgers finally acknowledged he’s not playing this season, but he also told Pat McAfee that 2024 won’t be his last season.
That might be the goal for him, but at 40 years old, nothing is guaranteed. The Jets are in a position to be aggressive and put a lot of eggs in the 2024 basket.
That could include his old teammate Davante Adams. The two were a force together in Green Bay. However, Adams was traded to the Raiders in 2022 to go play with his former college quarterback Derek Carr.
Adams was Dan Graziano’s fist answer when asked about stars who could be traded. As he notes, the front office that made the trade and gave Adams a contract extension is no longer there. The Raiders are a rebuilding team if they are honest with themselves, and a soon-to-be 31-year-old receiver isn’t as beneficial to them as an additional first-round pick.
For the Jets, the team would suddenly have two receivers capable of being a No. 1 guy for most teams. Teams would have a hard time devising a way to account for both Garrett Wilson and Adams.
The fact the article mentions Dan Graziano — who is plugged In NFL circles, mentioning Davante Adams immediately when asked about stars who could be traded — is absolutely telling.
We’ve already seen Rodgers has a certain level of sway when it comes to bringing players in (Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard this season), so this could be a very real possibility.
