The Green Bay Packers ended their five-game losing streak with a 31-28 overtime win over Dallas in Green Bay. Their record is now 4-6.
Here are some stats (good and bad) that helped define that contest.
Good Stat: Green Bay entered the fourth quarter down 14 points, 28-14. Since 1970, the Packers have been behind by 14 or more points going into the fourth quarter in 116 games. They had previously only won four of those contests. It was the first win after being behind by 14+ points to start the fourth quarter since December 23, 2018, against the Jets. In that game, the Packers were behind 35-20 starting the fourth quarter. They tied the score at 38-38 and won the game in overtime.
Bad Stat: The Green Bay defense allowed Dallas to rack up 421 yards, the most they have allowed in a game this season and the most they allowed to the opponents since October 24, 2021, when Washington had 430 total yards.
Good Stat: Aaron Rodgers was 14-for-20 for 224 yards and three TDs. His 146.7 Passer Rating is now the 10th best in his career (regular season) and his highest since last year against the Vikings on November 21 when it was 148.4. It was the highest Passer Rating of his career versus the Cowboys.
Good Stat: Aaron Jones had 138 yards rushing and a pair of receptions for 18 yards for 156 total yards from scrimmage. The Packers are 10-1 when Jones has 150+ yards from scrimmage in a game, and they are 22-3 when he has 100 or more total yards from scrimmage.
Good Stat: Green Bay has now won seven of their last eight November games played in Green Bay.
Bad Stat: For the third straight game, Green Bay did not score in the first quarter.
Good Stat: The Packers had 415 total yards (second most in 2022) and 207 rushing yards (second most in 2022).
Bad Stat: CeeDee Lamb had 11 receptions for 150 yards for Dallas. It was the second time this season an opposing receiver had 150+ receiving yards against the Packers (Justin Jefferson had 184 in Game One). The Packers are 7-12 in their last 19 games when an opposing receiver has 150+ receiving yards.
Good Stat: Dallas’ Micah Parson did not have a sack in the game. Prior to this game, Parson had a sack in 14 of the 24 games he has played in his career.
Good Stat: Isaiah McDuffie led the Packers’ defense with 13 combined tackles in the game. His previous high was five combined tackles.
Good Stat: Green Bay has now won 26 straight games when they score 30 or more points in a home game.
Bad Stat: Dallas had three drives of 66 yards or more. All three led to touchdowns.
Bad Stat: The Packers had two turnovers (lost fumbles by Aaron Rodgers and Amari Rodgers). They now have 15 turnovers for the season after 10 games. The 15 turnovers are more than they had in 2021 (13), more than 2020 (11), and more than 2019 (13).
Good Stat: Rudy Ford had a pair of interceptions in the first half, his first two with the Packers. In his 65 career games before yesterday, Ford had one interception.
Good Stat: The Packers had five plays of 20+ yards, two by Christian Watson, and one each by Sammy Watkins, Allen Lazard and Aaron Jones. Lazard leads the team with nine big plays this season (plays of 20+ yards). Jones is second on the team with seven.
Good Stat: Christian Watson became the fourth Green Bay rookie to have three TD receptions in a single game. The others: James Lofton (1978), Max McGee (1954), and Billy Howton (1952). He is the first rookie since Cincinnati’s Ja’Marr Chase to have three TD receptions and 100 yards receiving in a game. Chase did it in Week #17 last season. Only seven rookies have had three TD receptions and 100 yards receiving in the same game since 2000.
Bad Stat: Dallas scored 14 points in the second quarter. It was the seventh straight week that the Packers surrendered points in the second quarter.
Good Stat: Mason Crosby had four extra points and a field goal for seven points. He now has 1,857 total points in his career, good enough for 12th place on the NFL’s all-time scoring list. Stephen Gostkowski is 11th with 1,875. The only other active player in the Top 12 on this list is Robbie Gould, who is 10th with 1,889 career points.
