Milwaukee Bucks Could Add Roster Depth 2 Easy Ways: Street Free Agents like TJ Warren and Buyout Candidates like Kris Dunn
Outside of a trade Milwaukee can add to its roster in some other creative ways: street free agents and possible buyout candidates.
One simple way is to go after “street-free agents” or players who aren’t playing right now. Jae Crowder would not have fit into that bucket last year but he was close: he wasn’t playing for Phoenix and of course, they were forced to trade him.
TJ Warren, formerly of the Phoenix Suns and Indiana Pacers, is available. A current street-free agent, he could help add some scoring punch if Milwaukee had an interest.
He could be a nice addition in case Milwaukee faces some more serious injuries or isn’t satisfied with its two way guys. However, as we have yet to see Ty Ty Washington or Marques Bolden, the jury is still out.
Warren averaged 19.8 points per game for the Pacers in the 2019-2020 season. That is really good!
Below is a highlight on Warren from the 2022 season.

Milwaukee Bucks Buyout Candidates
Bucks fans are becoming all too familiar with the NBA buyout market. One of the unique ways in the NBA to acquire talent and upgrade your roster is to “buyout” the contract of a player. How does that all work? Basically, the player and their current team agree to part ways at a mutually agreed upon price- usually a third of their existing deal- and then that player can go sign somewhere else for whatever they can get. In the NBA the money really can jump out on certain guys.
Kris Dunn- Good passer and defender
Kris Dunn of Utah could be an interesting fit. A 29-year old guard, he can really move and defend. He is playing about 16 minutes a game right now for the Jazz. He could help add some guard depth if the Bucks were in a pinch.
Dunn put up 7 assists a few times this season. If they Bucks need guard depth, he could be a way to go.
Malachi Flynn- A Different Back-Up Point Guard
Malachi Flynn, a back-up point guard, also does not play a ton. But when he does play he seems to be a decent defender. He could be another possible guard the Bucks could take a look at.
Flynn is not known as a good shooter which might be too big of a knock for the Bucks to take any kind of a long look on him.
In Conclusion
As the season progresses who knows how the final roster will look. Plus, the upcoming buyout market does not feel as “crazy” as it has in the past.
Until Milwaukee really knows what it has in its 2-Way players there really is not much of a need here. But it is always good to see what is out there in terms of possible buyout candidates and street free agents.
Keep your eyes here on www.wisportsheroics.com as we continue to wait to see how the Bucks season goes. There is no room to add right now. But as the season continues it becomes a prime time for playoff teams like Milwaukee to add guys. Of course we’ll see how it goes as the season plays out.
