Michael Beasley is making a comeback to professional basketball. Only this time he will not be returning to the NBA. Instead, the former Milwaukee Bucks forward is heading back to China to play for the Shanghai Sharks. Shams Charania of The Athletic was the first to break the news:

Sources: Former NBA No. 2 pick Michael Beasley is returning to professional basketball and will sign a seven-figure deal with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association.

This will not be Michael Beasley’s first stint in the Chinese Basketball Association. In 2014-15, Beasley averaged 28.6 points and 10.4 rebounds per game for the Sharks. The next season, as a member of the Golden Stars, he averaged 31.7 points and 13.0 rebounds per game. Beasley played five games in 2018-2019 for the Southern Tigers. In those games, he averaged 22.4 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.

Michael Beasley signed to play with the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2016-17 season. In 56 games with the Bucks, Beasley averaged 9.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, mostly in a reserve role.

In 11 NBA seasons, Beasley spent time with the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets, Bucks, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Lakers. He has not played in the NBA since the 2018-2019 season. His contract with the Lakers was voided in 2019-2020 due to a positive COVID test.
