The Wisconsin wrestling team earned a commitment earlier this month who was gracious enough to give Wisconsin Sports Heroics his time.

Peter Tomazevic, a 136-pound wrestler from Black Creek, Wisconsin, recently announced his commitment to the Wisconsin wrestling program. Tomazevic is a lethal wrestler that is always looking for an avenue to pin his opponent. The Askren Wrestling Academy member recently had the time to speak to the Wisconsin Sports Heroics staff about himself and his recruitment.

Like many other kids, Peter Tomazevic fell in-love with wrestling as his father began to support him every step of the way. Rather quickly however, Tomazevic began to excel against his competition and stand-out as a serious wrestling prospect. From a young age the accomplished wrestler proved he not only has heart on the mat, but also plenty of grit and a true love for the sport.

Fast forward to today, and Tomazevic has solidified himself as one of the top 136-pound wrestlers in the great state of Wisconsin. Tomazevic opened up about his parents commitment to his wrestling career and stated “…my parents have given all of these opportunities and options to learn from people I would consider to be the most influential.”

The exceptional wrestler also went on to state that his coach Josh Wagner and Askren Wrestling Academy for the skills they helped him develop. Tomazevic believes his Freedom High School coaches and training partners have also played a major role in his development on and off of the mat.

For the accomplished wrestler Tomazevic, joining Wisconsin wrestling was a dream but the ultimate goal comes on the sidelines of the mat. Like many other wrestlers, Tomazevic hopes to give back to the sport that he feels made him into the man he is today. The wrestler was quoted saying, “I do want to stay around and give back to the sport that made me who I am today and will continue to help me in every aspect of life.”

Tomazevic knows there will have to be a future off of the mat eventually, which is why he has already begun preparing himself to work as a financial advisor after wrestling. The wrestler also stated that collegiate recruiting process has allowed him to learn about the resource available to him at the next level.

If there is one thing Head Coach Chris Bono and the rest of the Wisconsin wrestling program wants to do, it is develop people as human beings. Bono believes that success begins off the mat, and issues off the mat will only lead to issues during competition. For a wrestler and person like Peter Tomazevic, this concept spoke to him.

Tomazevic stated it was a ‘pretty simple’ reason behind why he chose the Wisconsin wrestling program in the end. The Badgers commitment stated his reason was due to “…their belief in me and their want to make me not only grow as a wrestler but more importantly as a person.”

Tomazevic is excited to make a difference for the Badgers on the mat, but more importantly is excited to develop himself in all aspects of life during his stay in Madison.
