The Denver Broncos are now 0-2. Former Wisconsin Badgers star quarterback Russell Wilson did all he could to help his team to a Week 2 win over the Washington Commanders, but unfortunately, Wilson and Co. came up short. The Commanders scraped out 35-33 in this hard-fought encounter, thereby adding to the early-season misery of Broncos fans everywhere.
The silver lining here, however, is that there was a lot to take away from Wilson’s eye-opening performance.
Ex- Wisconsin Badgers QB Russell Wilson Turns In Massive Performance

Simply put, Russell Wilson was cooking in this one. His performance in the first half, in particular, had Denver fans all excited. The nine-time Pro Bowler went 6-of-8 in the opening half for 154 yards and two touchdowns. It allowed the Broncos to enter halftime with a 21-14 lead.
Wilson kept it going in the second half, but he just wasn’t as impressive as he was in the opening two quarters. Nevertheless, the 34-year-old finished the game with 18-of-23 completed passes for 308 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.
For good measure, Wilson also reached a historic milestone in this one:

Unfortunately, Denver’s defense did not hold up in the second half, allowing the Commanders to get 21 points in the third and fourth quarters. Russell Wilson had one more trick up his sleeve, though.

With literally no time remaining on the clock, the Broncos made one final push. Wilson threw a wild Hail Mary touchdown to get Denver within two points:

Unfortunately, the Broncos were unable to convert the two-point attempt to force overtime. In spite of Wilson’s heroic effort, Denver is still facing another tough start to their season now that they’re down 0-2.

There were obviously a lot of mixed reactions on there, which pretty much represents Wilson’s up-and-down outing in Week 2. It was an encouraging performance, no doubt, but the fact of the matter is that Denver has now lost their first two games of the new season.
You can be sure that the Russell Wilson memes will keep on coming.
