It’s amazing how quickly the national media has flipped on Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love. After so many pundits predicted doom and gloom once the team traded Aaron Rodgers, it hasn’t taken long for the narrative to flip. ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky highlighted what makes Love so effective in his first two preseason games on Get Up this morning.
Dan Orlovsky Praises Jordan Love
Orlovsky went to the video board to show how effective Love has been with his three-step drops. It’s easy for the casual fan to see throws and timing but the footwork is harder for us to understand. It seems that in his three years sitting behind Rodgers, he has been coached up on footwork. You can see the full video breakdown here.
The former Lions quarterback talked about how there is a difference in three-step drops and Love has them perfected. He wrote on Twitter that he, “has them down right now & it’s allowing flawless operation for the Packers QB.” The offense has looked very good in the first couple of preseason games. While it is by no means perfect, it is a far cry from the disaster that so many were predicting.
Packers Are Ready To Surprise People
The beauty of this season is there is little pressure. Yes, Love needs to show that he can play quarterback at an NFL level but if the team misses the playoffs, it isn’t the disaster that 2022 was. This season is all about showing the proof of concept. Can Love run a high-level offense? Can Matt LaFleur’s system work when it is run to its fullest extent? If the answer to both of those questions is yes then the 2023 season is a success.
Dan Orlovsky and so many other analysts are spending this week praising Jordan Love. It’s only preseason but the former first-round pick is showing why the Green Bay Packers drafted him so highly. If he becomes the quarterback for the next 15 years, a lot of people are going to be looking at how the Packers evaluate quarterback talent.
