The Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers are preparing for their huge playoff matchup on Sunday. The Cowboys are coming off a 12-5 season that saw them take the NFC East crown. The Packers are also feeling good about themselves after making the playoffs in Jordan Love’s first full year as a starter.
As the Packers look to pull off the upset in Dallas, Mike McCarthy announced that one of their key players won’t practice all week prior to Wild Card weekend.
The Dallas Cowboys Won’t Have A 5-Time Pro Bowler At Practice All Week Prior To Their Matchup Against The Green Bay Packers
According to Jon Machota of The Athletic:
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said CB Stephon Gilmore (shoulder) will be in the rehab group. “He’s making really good progress.”
He’s not expected to do anything in practice until Saturday LG Tyler Smith (foot) will be limited today
On Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys won their 26th NFC East title, securing the #2 seed in the NFC, but there was concern that it came at a price.
Veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore – who has been great for Dallas over the second half of the season – suffered a shoulder injury. The injury did not look good for initially, especially as the playoffs were one week away.
Fortunately, however, for Dallas’ defense the MRI showed no significant damage in Gilmore’s shoulder. Multiple reports have indicated he will be good to go for their Sunday’s contest, but no practice all week indicates he may be further away from 100% than originally thought.
